Proposal Writing

This week will be tedious both for me and my husband. By the way, my husband is taking up his masteral degree at Technological University of the Philippines (TUP). In their research method course, they required to pass three proposals for only a limited time.

At present, my husband is a college instructor and handles several engineering subjects in one of the school here. He is so very busy and unable to pass the requirements so I will be helping him to do his proposals.

It is important to know the proposal writing tips and guidelines in order to understand the proper way of writing proposal. Not all proposal have same format, however, my our proposal format goes this way

Cover Page – it summarizes important identifying information such as proposal title, date submitted, researcher’s name, etc.

Summary / Abstract – sums up the entire proposal, conveying the who, what, where, why and how much of the proposed project. Limited to one to two pages.

Introduction – includes proposal outline and intent

Problem Statement – includes goals and objectives of the project as well as the overall contribution of the project.

Methodology – describe the methods use to achieve the desired outcomes. Also includes a timetable for the activities.

Budget – includes all the costs related to fundable activities in the project including personnel costs (salaries, wages and fringe benefits) and non-personnel costs (equipment, materials and supplies used)

Conclusion – reiterates the significance and purpose of the project

Appendices – includes references used.

At present, we had only one proposal entitled, “Computerized Lighting System for their school”. We hope that we will be able to think of other proposal that is related to his field.

After submission of his proposal, he will be preparing for proposal defense. I hope he will be able to make it on deadline date.

Thanks to some site that provide sample proposal which will be able to use as guidelines to our proposal writing.
